Oshawa Clinic Taunton Surgical Centre

The Oshawa Clinic Group (OCG) is one of Canada’s largest private multidisciplinary medical group practices. OCG required a new centre to provide facilities for urgent care and day-procedure services. Located at 1300 Keith Ross Drive in Oshawa, the facility includes doctor’s offices and examination rooms, reception and waiting areas, and clinical spaces for pain management and endoscopy procedures.

J.J. McGuire was the constructor for the new-build, two-storey facility. Organized into east and west wings with a shared basement, the building design features a brick and metal clad exterior with a series of differing elevations that provide visual interest. Interiors include custom millwork and high-end finishes in common areas and offices, and durable, clean finishes and materials within the surgical / procedure areas. HVAC and controls for clinical spaces include specialized filtration and pressurization to meet stringent healthcare requirements.

Throughout construction, sequencing and site logistics were influenced by the site’s location directly adjacent to the Oshawa Airport. The J.J. McGuire team undertook extensive coordination with NavCanada during construction, including for the positioning and use of cranes, staging and delivery.
