More About GM St. Catharines Engine Line

Located at the General Motors plant in St. Catharines, the Engine Line project involved the full demolition of existing assembly lines and the installation of seven new lines for the manufacture of the Gen 5 engine. Civil work included the construction of new slabs and revisions to existing structural steel to accommodate the new line configuration. The project was fast-tracked with a three-month schedule improvement, requiring precise coordination across all trades to meet the accelerated timeline. Turnover back to GM involved careful integration with several of GM’s Original Equipment Manufacturers, adding a further layer of coordination complexity to the close-out phase.

J.J. McGuire delivered the full scope of civil and structural work within the active St. Catharines facility, meeting the fast-tracked schedule while managing the technical demands of a multi-OEM handover in a live automotive manufacturing environment.
