Cavan Hills Veterinary Clinic

Cavan Hills Veterinary Hospital is a 24/7 emergency facility for family or exotic pets. located along Hwy 7, about an hour north of Toronto. A new, purpose-built veterinary hospital was required on the site to expand the existing services. JJ McGuire was engaged as general contractor for the new build, 2-storey facility. The new facility was designed to align with the neighbouring residential property, utilizing a wood-frame structure with dark-grey vinyl siding, and featuring an expansive front porch.  The facility includes clean surgical and prep spaces, exam rooms and treatment spaces, diagnostic areas with x-ray and tabletop equipment, as well as rooms for ICU, Recovery, and Isolation. Laboratory-grade millwork and interior finishes designed for durability and cleanability were integral elements of the interior, which features epoxy floors and acrylic wall panels. The veterinary hospital also includes kennels, laundry, and other support spaces, as well as reception, administrative areas, and staff amenities. The rural site required a new septic system to accommodate the facility however, the septic system designed required significant on-site changes and additional permitting.

J.J. McGuire worked closely with the consultant team and manufacturer to assist in the redesign of the system which allowed it to meet all regulatory requirements and maintain the original design intent.
The new facility was constructed over 10 months while maintaining uninterrupted operations of the existing veterinary facility.
