MORE ABOUT Ashbridges Bay Treatment Plant

Located at the Ashbridges Bay Treatment Plant in Toronto, the Odour Control Facility represents a significant step in the City of Toronto’s transition toward the beneficial use of biosolids and the termination of biosolids incineration. The new state-of-the-art truck loading and odour control building was constructed within the footprint of three existing incinerators, with three new silos built in the place. By reusing the existing building structure and piled foundations, the design minimized construction time and cost while maximizing the value of the existing infrastructure. The fully automated, unmanned truck loading facility features two drive-through bays, each equipped with dual hoppers and an integrated weigh scale capable of loading trucks of any configuration within 15 minutes of arrival. Truck-access doors remain closed throughout the loading process to prevent the release of odours to the atmosphere.

J.J.McGuire has also completed various projects at the Ashbridges Plant, including the T&M Building Upgrades and MCC Replacement. For the Odour Control Facility, J.J.McGuire delivered the full construction scope, working within the operational constraints of an active wastewater treatment plant to complete a technically complex project that directly supported the City’s long-term biosolids management strategy.
